UPDATE - Practices and Week 1 of Season

UPDATED – March 14th, 2020

Dear Families,

As we prepare for our upcoming Spring 2020 season we are all dealing with an unprecedented situation in our country regarding COVID-19.  Our coaches and administrators are monitoring this very closely and working with the respective lacrosse leagues.

Preseason:  We are cancelling all preseason practices at The Edge, March 14th, March 21st & March 28th.

Boys Season: The MBYLL (Boys League) is taking the additional step of cancelling week 1 (April 3rd – 5th) of both the Select & Classic leagues.  The season will now commence the weekend of April 17th – 19th.   We’re being asked to follow the guidance of the MIAA and commence no group practices until after March 30th.   Additionally, Arlington High School has closed the playing fields to all groups.

Girls Season:  The Founders League (Girls League) is postponing the start of the season to May 3rd.  We are working with the town to assess when we can conduct practices but nothing until after April 1st.

We do this with an abundance of caution and to ensure safety of our players and their families.  We continue to work closely with MBYLL (Boys League) and Founders League (Girls League) to monitor this and any other developments.

Please stay tuned to your e-mail and our website for any further updates including practices, updated game schedules and uniform distribution.

Sincerely,

Arlington Youth Lacrosse Board of Directors

Equipment Guidelines for Boys and Girls Lacrosse

EQUIPMENT FOR BOYS AND GIRLS LACROSSE

US Lacrosse publishes a detailed equipment fitting guide which is an excellent resource for new parents and players.

Required equipment for boys lacrosse:

  • Helmet
  • Lacrosse Stick
  • Mouthguard*
  • Gloves
  • Shoulder Pads
  • Arm Protection
  • Cup/Athletic Supporter

Recommended but not required:

  • Cleats
  • Rib Pads

Required equipment for girls lacrosse:

  • Lacrosse stick
  • Goggles**
  • Mouthguard*

Optional:

  • Headgear***
  • Lacrosse gloves
  • Cleats

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* Mouthguards may not be clear, white or have any teeth graphics.  This is so that a referee can easily see that any player is wearing a mouthguard

** Goggle safety rules have been revised this offseason.  Please note that beginning January 1, 2017, only the newer standard, ASTM 3077, is regarded as legal for play and all eyewear equipment will have to meet this standard.  Check out the US Lacrosse website for a list of approved eyewear.

*** The use of protective headgear for girls is now allowed.  Use of this equipment is optional for 2017.  For more, check out the US Lacrosse website for legal women's headgear.
